Lazuli - Le Fantastique Envol de Dieter Bhöm
5.0TOP 2020

ENGLISH VERSION

So it wasn’t until their ninth studio release that Lazuli‘s friends came back with a concept album under their arms and not just any concept album, stuck to the music and the inner worlds she takes us on a poetic tour. Le Fantastique Envol de Diter Böhm is an invitation to a journey(s) in four acts and nine tableaux that follow one another, intertwining and interlocking in a subtle harmony, a sense of detail that decorates the imagination.

What a major achievement! We can never say enough about all the qualities of the french band. Instrumental skills, obviously, with this great sound and production, this music that never try to bring things back to themselves, these shivering variations, these melodies that slowly creep in and interfere. And it is here, precisely, that the most sorrowful people will come to scratch what they will call the already visited universe of the band and which would notice the work with a lack of surprises. No. It’s deeper than that! Lazuli is above all a “sound”. With the famous Léode designed by Claude Leonetti who paints this unique sonic landscape but not only…  Dominique Leonetti‘s singing carries once again on lyrics always inspired while Gédéric Byar‘s guitar sounds great, Romain Thorel‘s keyboards gently underline and Vincent Barnavol‘s sticks release the energies.

For nearly 20 years, the band has been deploying its talents with a lightness that is quick to lift us very high. It would be easy to count the points, to go through each piece of this new album, scratching the tracks in all their excellence, to evoke the influences that pierce without spilling over, that mix without overflowing. To evoke also the vinyl edition, magnificent, the 60-page booklet, these lively photos and all these markers of horizons that add to the adventure. No, it’s not. Le Fantastique Envol de Diter Böhm is a huge album. You have to get close to it, hang it up, tame it and then give in, let it take you with its words and notes. And never let it go. At the end of the journey, one desire prevails: to go back to his side.
