Bruce Soord - All This Will Be Yours
4.3TOP 2019

Emotionally it was a pretty unique & eventful time, my wife was due to have our 3rd child at any time but she managed to come to see the final date of the TPT tour at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, after the show that night we returned home to Yeovil and the next day our baby girl arrived. So, we had this new life in our lives and it introduced a very different perspective on the world around me. I was totally inspired and started writing almost immediately.” – Bruce Soord

ENGLISH VERSION

Between two albums of The Pineapple Thief, which he has been in charge of for almost twenty years, Bruce Soord has therefore developed the habit – rather good – of foing for a “Solo” work. If the first album had been in the continuity of his previous work, All This Will Be Yours tends to stand out from a trademark. Inspired by the arrival of her third child, the album works on serenity. Bruce Soord provides all the instrumentation he wants stripped down. It focuses on the essential. The very essence of his art.

“Emotionally it was a pretty unique & eventful time, my wife was due to have our 3rd child at any time but she managed to come to see the final date of the TPT tour at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, after the show that night we returned home to Yeovil and the next day our baby girl arrived. So, we had this new life in our lives and it introduced a very different perspective on the world around me. I was totally inspired and started writing almost immediately.” – Bruce Soord

And if the past had suggested a worried artist, this album takes a less circumferential path. More acoustic, without superficial fat or any attempt at inappropriate sonic bluster, All This Will Be Yours speaks to the heart without being too sentimental. Everything here is only luxury, calm and voluptuousness with a penchant for sweetness that allows “Our Gravest Threat Apart” to ideally launch the journey. The rest will prove the singer right. With arpeggios focused on his melodic sides and an indisputable compositional science, Bruce Soord embraces us without forcing us. From “The Solitary Path of a Convicted Man” to “Time Does Not Exist” and “Cut the Flowers“, the album takes us into a form of contemplation of things (“an observational record” as he himself defines it), full of serenity, even if it means playing with the limits of an assumed autobiographical story. But set by the careful production of Steve Kitch, his sidekick from The Pineapple Thief, this second solo album works on feelings with enough delicacy to make us shiver.
